Dismantling of steel melting shop and a rolling mill for rebars- Greece

Project between members: POL-INOWEX & APL-Project

For a dismantling of steel melting shop and rolling mill for rebars, POL-INOWEX and APL Project joined forces and has successfully completed the project.

APL Project part: 

  • Confirmation of electrical isolation.
  • Flag-tagging.
  • Power and automation cables disconnection.
  • Dismantling of metal grates.
  • Arrangement of cables to enable the movement of equipment.
  • Disconnections (Tubes, pipes, etc) .
  • Removal of hydraulic oil from piping.
  • Breaking of secondary concrete bases to release parts of the equipment.
  • Confirmation of base release, via hydraulic jacks, before lifting parts of the machine.
  • Dismantling equipment in suitable dimensions for loading.
  • Test lifting – ‘weighing’ of equipment pieces before loading.

POL-INOWEX was responsible for dismantling works, here are some key insights:

  • Melt shop
    EAF (Electric Arc Furnace):
    Dismantling of machineries, equipment, automation system and PLC’s
    Approximate weight 250 t
  • LF Ladle Furnace

Dismantling of machineries, equipment, automation system, PLC’s, electrode arms,
LF transformer and reactor, 12 MVA Tamini
The transformer, complete with oil and accessories, weighed 115 tons. After disassembly and draining the oil, the heaviest component weighed 80 tons

  • Material handling system, conveyors and hoppers
  • Continuous billet caster- 9 cranes, lifting capacity from 5 to 120 tons

All the mechanical work materialized according to the time schedule and in compliance with all the technical specifications.

This was the first collaboration between the two parties, fellow members and partners companies of GIRNetwork, materializing with immaculate results.
