📢 HARDER Logistics plans to relocate to the Riffelbank Industrial estate in October 2025
The number of companies and plants being relocated abroad continues to rise at the integrated system service provider HARDER logistics from Neu-Ulm. On the other hand, relocations within Germany are continuing to decline. Managing Partner Marcello Danieli draws this conclusion for 2024, announcing the completion of the new headquarters with extensive storage capacity in Neu-Ulm for this year.
A 10-meter-high, 4,800 m2 logistics hall, an office building and other outdoor logistics areas are currently being built on the company’s own 30,000 square meter site in the Riffelbank industrial estate, with an investment volume of around nine million euros. The building will incorporate a mix of sustainability measures, including a large-scale photovoltaic system. The move from the current headquarters to the new location is scheduled for October this year.
Over 500 individual projects in 2024
HARDER logistics’ business activities comprised over 500 individual projects in 2024. These mainly included the relocation of production lines, systems and machines, including their disassembly and reassembly. Based on the composition of the order volume, Danieli believes that the trend of German companies relocating is consolidating. He summarizes: “In 2024, the proportion of relocations abroad was at a record level of 70%, while domestic relocations in Germany only accounted for 30%. The destinations were primarily Italy, Romania, Australia and the USA.”
Three to five percent growth for 2025
Danieli expects fewer new plants to be built in 2025 due to the continuing low level of investment in Germany and, as a result, a further decline in relocation business in Germany. “For our company, we are assuming small growth of three to five percent this year, which will primarily be characterized by foreign business,” explains Danieli. In order to achieve this, HARDER logistics is consistently pushing ahead with the internationalization strategy it adopted in 2024. The Managing Partner assumes that this will take full effect in two to three years and that significantly more foreign orders will be generated, including from the USA, Mexico and India.
Investment in new special equipment
Danieli considers the investment of around 2 million euros in an electric industrial crane with a lifting capacity of 40 tons, which can be controlled remotely, and a loader crane vehicle to be a very good decision. “These are regularly used in our relocation projects and achieved a capacity utilization of more than 50 percent in their first year of operation.” The delivery of a self-propelled transport trolley with a load capacity of 15 t is planned for the near future, which will allow systems and machines to be moved even more efficiently and gently.
