📣 News from HARDER logistics GmbH & Co. KG HARDER logistics GmbH & Co. KG Relocates IHK Academy Swabia Training Workshops to New Metal Competence Center The training workshops of the IHK Academy Swabia have consolidated their traditional industrial and technical training programs in a new Metal Competence Center in Neu-Ulm. The relocation of the two former sites was carried out by specialist provider HARDER logistics GmbH & Co. KG. A key challenge was completing the move within a tight ten-day schedule while training operations continued. From workbenches and conventional lathes to modern CNC machining centers, the entire workshop inventory had to be relocated. In total, the project involved more than 30 machines, each weighing between one and five tons, as well as material cabinets, raw materials, and office equipment. “Alongside the safe and professional handling of the high-value machines, our main priority was minimizing disruption to ongoing training and qualification programs. We currently support around 50 participants,” explains Wolfgang Gollmann, Head of the Neu-Ulm Campus at IHK Academy Swabia. “The high level of flexibility shown by HARDER logistics played a major role in ensuring the move was implemented efficiently and that we could quickly return to normal operations.” The relocation took place in two phases. The first external site on Baumgartenstraße in Neu-Ulm was transferred to the new competence center on Finninger Straße in December last year. Over the past ten days, the second site on Heinz-Rühmann-Straße followed—its relocation being particularly time-critical and logistically demanding. Additional challenges arose from the building structure at the existing location. The workshops were located in a three-storey building, with around 40 percent of the equipment confined to the basement. “We used a special loading crane to lift equipment from the inner courtyard directly onto the transport vehicles,” explains Andreas Hermann, Project Manager at HARDER logistics. “This allowed us to avoid dismantling machines or transferring them multiple times. A detailed relocation plan and close coordination with the IHK team were key factors in completing the project successfully within the tight schedule.” The project was carried out by a five-person specialist team using dedicated equipment. Since 9 March, the workshop facilities at the new Metal Competence Center, located at Finninger Straße 46 in Neu-Ulm, have been fully operational again for IHK students. Gollmann concludes with a positive outlook: “By consolidating our previously decentralized and historically grown structures, we have created a clear and future-proof setup. The new concept offers modern facilities, shorter distances, and optimal conditions for both instructors and participants.” 👏 |
