Marcus Transport – Assembly application Marcus in Vreden Portal milling machine

Marcus Transport assembly job was a complete success!

They provided technical assistance with the dismantling and removal of a portal milling machine using their pick & carry crane and a 7-ton forklift truck.

With their mobile crane, they were even able to move parts weighing up to 60 tons without support. They are proud of their team and the great work that was done.

It was a challenge, but they mastered it.

The tour of the company headquarters and the warehouses, including the new modern fully automated high-bay warehouse, was impressive.

In general, the projects that the company Harder Logistics implements in the field of company relocation and high-tech transport are remarkable.

Company relocator HARDER logistics celebrates its 20th anniversary

GIRN - Harder Company anniversary 20

“We’ve completely reinvented ourselves.”

The company relocator HARDER logistics from Neu-Ulm celebrates its 20th company anniversary. On 1.10.2003 the managing partner Marcello Danieli had taken over the transport company HARDER with eleven employees and three trucks. In retrospect he says: “The only thing that has remained from that time is the company name. Otherwise we have completely reinvented ourselves.”

Today, the company leader can look back on a team of 100 employees, a comprehensive fleet of special vehicles, modern office and warehouse space of 25,000 m2, a state-of-the-art container warehouse and a company share in the relocation company Industrial Moving in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. This is the result of a completely realigned portfolio.

“The focus of our business is on internationally renowned industrial and commercial companies, for whom we carry out plant relocations, industrial assemblies as well as object relocations. We expect to handle around 40 major projects this year alone in addition to our day-to-day business.” – Danieli outlines. In addition, there are other activities such as storage, archiving and the restoration of properties to their original condition. His holistic approach is to provide all project-related services from a single source. New business areas are continually being added. “Currently, we are expanding our spectrum to include subassembly pre-assembly, so that manufacturers can concentrate even more on their core activities.”

Milestones: Sustainability strategy and new building
A special focus of HARDER logistics is sustainability. The company takes this future topic into account in a specially developed climate strategy – a milestone for the managing partner. This includes the evaluation of the company’s CO2 emissions, membership in various selected initiatives as well as investments in climate protection projects and the pursuit of climate positivity.

Another milestone is the investment in a fully automated container storage hall with 250 storage spaces in 2022. The unique selling point is container availability around the clock. “Users can digitally initiate the storage and retrieval process themselves and are thus independent of opening hours or personnel capacities.” – confirms Johannes Danieli, project manager at HARDER logistics. The hall is already 75% full, he says.

On the site next to the container storage hall, Marcello Danieli wants to set the course for the future together with his son Johannes. A logistics hall and an office building are to be built there in the coming years so that all activities can be centrally controlled from one location. A number of structural measures will be implemented and a large-scale photovoltaic system installed in order to become independent of energy providers. For the company, Danieli plans further internationalization in the main business areas. Furthermore, additional services are to be integrated into the portfolio in line with customer needs in order to cover as many activities as possible in-house.

We would like to congratulate HARDER logistics and we are very happy to have you as part of our GIRN family.

HARDER Logistics – Major logistics project for Rügen Fisch implemented in Sassnitz

The plant relocation company HARDER logistics from Neu-Ulm has successfully completed a major order for the company Rügen Fisch from Sassnitz within nine months. The two-phase project included gutting and deconstruction of a production hall as well as relocation of twelve production and packaging lines during ongoing operations. The HARDER team consisted of up to twelve employees at peak times. The reason for commissioning HARDER was that the production sites of Hawesta, a canned fish producer based in Lübeck, and Rügen Fisch (both subsidiaries of the Thai Union Group) were merged in Sassnitz.

The decision in favor of HARDER logistics was made by Rügen Fisch because the industrial logistics company could offer the combination of the desired services with its own personnel and equipment. “The concept with dismantling and relocation of operations from a single source convinced us,” reports Ralf Link. The managing director of the project and planning office PKV – J. Müller from Ratingen was holistically responsible for the planning and implementation of the project, including the structural measures. He says of the objectives: “The sites were merged in order to optimize capacity utilization at the plant. The reconstruction measures paid off to straighten the material flow in the organically grown plant.”

Project part one: Deconstruction in Sassnitz

At the end of 2022, the HARDER logistics-related shares started with the deconstruction and gutting of the part of the building in Sassnitz where one of the two production areas was located, and which was to be converted into a packaging hall. “As part of these measures, we relocated three production lines and dismantled all media. Demolition work included the removal of reinforced concrete walls and the dismantling of ceilings. In total, we disposed of 60 containers of scrap separately according to recyclable materials,” Johannes Danieli, project manager at HARDER logistics, provides an insight.

Project part two: relocation during ongoing operations

After completion of the packaging hall in Sassnitz, HARDER logistics relocated the associated packaging lines during ongoing production over a period of six months. The HARDER team dismantled six of the lines at the Hawesta site in Lübeck and, in cooperation with the manufacturer’s fitters, made them available again in Sassnitz, ready for operation. In addition, four packaging lines were relocated within the Rügen plant. “Over a period of six months, around 25 high-tech transports took place between the two Baltic cities in coordination with production.

This involved our own fleet of vehicles, our assembly platform and a commissioned

200 t crane,” Danieli summarizes. With the combination of crane and assembly platform, the plants were partially lifted over the unpaved yard and transported to the upper floors. The HARDER project manager adds: “Everything that weighed more than three tons, we did not bring in via the freight elevator, but via the facades.”

In the final project step, HARDER logistics relocated a lettuce production line from Lübeck to Sassnitz and brought in another production line that had been temporarily stored into the now material flow-optimized plant.

Project planner for Rügen Fisch Ralf Link particularly emphasizes as an achievement: “The timeframe of about two weeks for clearing out, gutting and dismantling the future packaging hall was tight. The success of the following project phases depended on the success of this element. With the speedy and high-quality execution, HARDER logistics contributed significantly to the success of the overall project.”
